The Sizzler

Well anyone who really knows me knows that I really don't like The Sizzler restaurants. I just thought I would throw out there what I think for the rest of the world to see. I would have to say that there is nothing that I like about Sizzler, their steak is not good their salad bar just looks like a germ infestation waiting to happen and the restaurant smells horrible. I guess it has something to do with the fact that I don't like seafood but Sizzler is not just a seafood restaurant, so why does it have a worse smell than say Red Lobster? So all of those things together have just made this place unappealing to me, I have never had a good experience there (and for some reason I can remember times from when I was little and even then I did not like Sizzler). In fact the last time I went to Sizzler (I did not really want to go but went along anyway) it was awful, the smell was there and all of my other gripes were very apparent as well, but this time something happened which made me not want to ever return, they seated us in a booth by the entrance and as people started lining up to get seats the began to accumulate next to our table and that is when a couple (who looked very unkempt) began leaning over our table! The guy had a long scraggly beard which looked as though it was going to touch the plates of food on the table and the lady (as I seem to remember it) was coughing. That was it I don't ever want to go to Sizzler ever again (which my wife laments as she likes their food?) I hope that I don't either and that is what I have to say about that! Out here - Nick

ABC: What's Wrong With You?

I just found out recently that ABC will be cancelling what has become my favorite tv sho: Eli Stone. This really upsets me because it really is a great show. I guess that there just isn't enough sex and or violence involved in the show to make it seem viable for ABC to keep. It is truly the only show on television like it and it draws over 6 million households a week (even in a not so ideal time slot). I hope that some other network at leasts picks it up or that ABC reconsiders and renews it for next year. Otherwise I guess that something uplifting has no place in the sex and violence crazed sitcoms and cop shows that have inundated the airwaves.

Struggling with the Guitar...I better stick with it

I own a guitar and one of my big goals in life is to learn how to play it. I can certainly make some noise but I have yet to (beyond a few random chords) been able to memorize anything or be able to actually put out something which could even roughly be considered music. I really hope I get the hang of this because I really want to be able to play some songs for the girls (and hopefully eventually a boy if not boys). I guess what it is really going to take is some hard work and perseverance. It is amazing to think sometimes about how something so simple as learning an instrument can have a greater and more profound affect on you life and your make up as a person. If I for instance was able to persevere and learn the guitar I could definitely take that new found talent and apply to another area of need in my life. I guess then for my greater good I should definitely stick to the guitar and I am sure that I will be not only blessed with some awesome tunes but maybe even a life that could be considered superior and definitely more fulfilling. I definitely need to apply the perseverance thing in my quest to become a more healthy and fit person, although I am happy to announce that I have lost 35 pounds over the last six weeks of diet and exercise, I do feel a lot better as well. I guess I am rambling on into the night which can definitely mean one thing, I need some sleep, until next time....Nick

It's Been A Long Time

Well it has been an eternity since I have logged in and posted anything. A lot has been going on with me. On September 11th a good thing happened for a change, my wife gave birth to two wonderful little girls, Abigail Emilia and Alivia Nicole. They were both born healthy and we are all very happy. Outside of that I went TDY to Hawaii for two weeks (rough duty I know) and thank goodness my wife didn't have the girls until after I got home. It looked like Real Salt Lake was going to make it to the MLS Cup final but unfortunately they fell short but congrats on a great season nonetheless. I just saw a story about the Pittsburgh Pirates signing two Indian players that have never even played in a real game to minor league contracts, well I hope they can at least tap into that giant billion person market before anyone else does. As for the 49ers we are definitely not having a good year, but if I could say one thing (and I can because this is my blog) I would say RETAIN MIKE SINGLETARY!!! he is awesome and definitely has changed the culture of the team. Well I will get going for now (gotta watch the Jazz game) but hopefully I can get back here soon. OH YEAH! The BCS is totally bogus and stupid and GO UTES!

Shout out to my teams

Just a hope that the Pirates, Real Salt Lake, and the Utah Blaze can right their ships in their current seasons.

Good luck to the Penguins and the Jazz in their prospective playoff runs.

Also to Corinthians it was a nice run in the Sao Paulo State Championship and the next tournament will be a great run for you guys everything will be looking up for you guys in the near future. Go Timao.

Jerry Sloan:Snub of the Decades

Just wanted to throw my two cents in about how Jerry Sloan gets snubbed nearly every year for Coach of the Year. How ridiculous is it that in amassing 1,000 vitories (almost all with the Utah Jazz), there has not been one year where he was considered the best coach. All of the years in a row making the playoffs, some starting out bad and "righting the ship" to make the playoffs, others ending with the best record in the league, and lately doing things with his team that according to the experts a few years ago were going to be so far in the future. From not making the playoffs to the western conference finals the next year. It seems that there is always an excuse as to why he isn't deserving, yet every reason they have given has been used in a different year as to why someone else should be the coach of the year. Whether it be they had the best record, or the best turnaround from one year to the other, or turned it around during the season, all have been done by Sloan in years past but they change what they think is the deserving status for Coach of the Year in that season. Maybe only self promoters deserve to be Coach of the Year, and if that is the case let's just call it the "I am more important than the team I coach of the year." Sloan will never complain about this personal accolade and he really doesn't care; but you think that at least once in twenty years they could have gotten it right in at least a couple of the years when Sloan was truly the best, but maybe since he has kept the Jazz at such a high level for so long it doesn't count. Sloan: at least your appreciated in Utah, we love you here!

What is this blog?!?!?

This blog is dedicated to all that I want it to be. I will talk about my sports teams, things that I like, things that get on my nerves, and things that I believe. In this first post I can say I am pretty happy because my beloved Pittsburgh Pirates won today 9-2 over the Florida Marlins. Although Real Salt Lake did lose yesterday (but I do have some issues with the officiating). But on a Happy Note the Jazz beat the loathed Spurs on Friday so all in all it was a pretty good weekend for sports. As far as the NCAA Championship game goes I am good with either Memphis or Kansas so long as the Tar Heels have packed their bags, it gets old having them there every single year. Well I am going to get going it is my Mom's birthday and we are going to go sing to her and have dinner and cake. Should be back later with more posts.
